About Us

Hi, we’re the Saotome Family, the team behind Kamui Adventure House

We’re a family of four who own and manage Kamui Adventure House. We moved to Hokkaido in 2014, drawn by the mountains and outdoor life. I worked as a backcountry snowboard guide in Niseko from the 2014-2015 season through the 2023-2024 season, and we’ve been enjoying life in Hokkaido ever since.

Before coming to Hokkaido, we traveled across North America, South Asia, Europe, and more, enjoying new cultures and experiences. Our stays at various accommodations inspired us to create a welcoming space for travelers.

Our hobbies include skiing, snowboarding, camping, yoga, cooking, wine, photography, coffee, and discovering local food spots. We also enjoy DIY projects and home renovations — we personally handled most of the remodeling at Kamui Adventure House to make it cozy and comfortable.

Kamui Adventure House started welcoming guests in 2025. The house had been empty for about 10 years, and we wanted to refresh it as a comfortable base for travelers. It operates as a self-check-in rental, giving guests flexibility and privacy. We also run a vacation rental on the second floor of our home in Furano.

Our goal is simple: to provide a friendly and comfortable place where guests can relax and explore Hokkaido at their own pace — from winter skiing and snowboarding to summer fruit picking in Fukagawa.
